Term Five saw us working hard towards our Year
Six SATs. We celebrated the end of these tests with a "DVD and popcorn
'in-class' cinema experience", watching the film version of 'Holes',
by Louis Sachar, a class novel from earlier in the year.
We
have now started work on a cross-curricular topic, Journeys, which will
keep us busy until the end of Term 6. Through this topic, we will be
learning about:
Journeys
through time - How Britain has changed since 1948
Special Journeys - Pilgrimages, personal journeys of belief and
faith
Journeys in Space - atmospheric music and scientific advances
(linked to London Residential)
Refugees - Why do people leave their homes? How does their life
change?
The Journey of a River - River Thames from source to sea (linked
to London Residential)
Moving Vehicles - controlling the route a model can take
Moving On - Getting ready for secondary school: new expectations,
hopes and concerns.
We are excited
about our residential trip to London and have been looking at images of
2D and 3D art that we will see in the Tate galleries. For our 'People
in Action' artwork, we have practised using the 'oval technique' for drawing
figures in proportion.

We have enjoyed making 'flicker books' to turn still images into simple
animations and have started to explore using different artists' methods
for showing movement within a still image.
