In
the past few weeks Schools across the area have been involved in a scheme
initiated by Wessex Setpoint, based at Bath University. Science Week was
set-up to raise awareness of what role Science plays in our lives.
Pupils
at St Aldhelm's Primary School asked parents, family and friends in
their community about how Science affects their daily routines. Each
pupil selected their favourite idea and created a picture to represent
it.
Much
of the work drew upon topics currently being studied within the curriculum,
with daily habits such as boiling a kettle reflecting their work on
changing states.
Each class incorporated their pictures into a School display. From the
mini beasts drawings created by Reception class. To the more advanced
science of Year Five, where one child produced a diagram of a jet engine
after talking to a friend of the family who works for the RAF.
St
Aldhelm's Science Week project is proudly on display within the school
for all to admire!
