St. Aldhelm's Primary School has been on its present site since 1979 when
it was officially opened by The Right Reverend John Bickersteth, Bishop
of Bath and Wells. Since then two new classrooms have been added.
Our new Headteacher is Joy Mounter, who joined us in January 2008. Since
September 2005 the school has had 7 classes split between Key Stage 1
and Key Stage 2. The children come from the local villages of Doulting
and Cranmore as well as the nearby town of Shepton Mallet. At the age
of 11, most of the children move onto Whitstone Community Technology School.
Some children go to The Blue School, Wells.
There
are a total of 10 full and part time teachers who along with a very
capable team of Teaching Assistants provide an excellent primary education
to our children.
The
school is very well equipped with four classes inside the main building
and three classes housed in Elliot buildings. There is a large and well-equipped
school hall that is also used for PE, drama and lunch. There is a separate
library and a group room.
The school is fully integrated into the local village life and provides
strong links to the community and church. There is also a very active
"Friends of St. Aldhelm's" - PTA.
