The
Year One children went to the Rural Life Museum, as part of their
History topic.
The girls were asked to wear pretty aprons and mop caps and the
boys were happy to put on rough hesian aprons.
They
listened to the farmers wife talking about her life, on her farm
where they grew their own food and kept cows for milk, butter,
cheese and meat. They also had chickens for eggs, and meat.
The
children handled some very old irons and tried to put them in
age order.
One
Child tried her hand at washing clothes using a dolly.
In
the kitchen the children were asked to help make pancakes. They
stirred the pancake mixture and watched the cook carefully putting
the mix onto the griddle stove on top of the range.
Some
of the children ate the lovely pancakes they had made.
