Roger
Whitewick was born in London (at the start of the 60s!) and has lived
in London, Portsmouth, Oxford and Frome. He trained to be a teacher
at Westminster College, Oxford and came to Somerset in 1983 for his
first teaching job. He also taught in schools in Ilchester and Yeovil
before becoming headteacher of Horsington Primary School near Wincanton
in 1993. After five years he wanted a new challenge so moved to become
headteacher of St. Aldhelm's, a job he loves.
His
hobbies include cycling and going to the cinema. He also likes reading
and he has started an evening class in German (Ja, Klar!). When he
was a student he worked as a postman, a holiday camp entertainer and
a care assistant with disabled people. He talks about these jobs from
time to time in his assemblies when he also talks about his best friend
from his school days- Gary Tate!
