Spring
Term in Reception Class was spent looking at Traditional Tales. Here
are a few examples of the activities we covered:
Being outside
is an integral part of the Foundation Stage Curriculum and, as well
as making use of our outdoor space, welly walks have become an important
part of Wednesday afternoons The class enjoy exploring the local area
and even had time to build homes for the 3 Little Pigs out of sticks
and stone.
After listening to the story of 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff', the children
were encouraged to use the instruments to make sound effects to accompany
the story. It was interesting trying to work out which Billy Goat the
music matched!
Following a cooking activity, the children were upset to find their
Gingerbread Man had escaped from the school oven. He kindly left us
clues to follow around the school. The hunt led us to the library, ICT
suite, hall, school kitchen, outside pencil area. After a long hunt
around school he was eventually found in New York by Mrs Barton and
family!
Whilst reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and 'The Enormous Watermelon'
we focussed on things that grow. This involved growing our own bean
plants. I am hoping that they are still being looked after at home!
Reception Class are having lots of opportunities to practise their writing.
Each week they have been adding to their bean diary detailing its growth.
