Nicki
Schantz was born in Michigan, USA (it's in the mid-west) some time
ago. After finishing a degree in French at Michigan State University,
she decided to have an adventure and with a backpack, $50 and a one-way
ticket set off to make her way in France. She spent 18 months traveling
around Europe and living and working in France. When the money ran
out, she took a job for six months in Devon working for a wine merchant.
One wonderful husband, three gorgeous children and 18 years later
she is still here!!
After
having spent several years working in the wine trade and then staying
home with her children she trained to be a language teacher; something
she had always wanted to do. She worked for a few years in a secondary
school teaching French and doing supply before coming to St. Aldhelm's
to teach primary. This she thoroughly enjoys.
Just
to make sure her brain still worked and because she would love to
be a student forever, she did a Masters Degree at King's College,
London in MFL Education which she finished last August and for which
she gained a distinction. She also completed her Spanish GCSE last
June.
She spends
her summers with her family on a lake in Michigan visiting friends
and family and trying hard to forget she has any responsibilities.
Her hobbies include traveling (anywhere!!), movies, languages, being
lazy and dare I say - wine.
