James
Anderton was born locally in the bright lights of Shepton Mallet.
He attended St. Aldhelm's before moving on to Whitstone. Throughout
his childhood he was widely involved in sport and developed his skills
further at the University of Portsmouth, where he completed a Sports
Science degree. For many years James worked part time in the leisure
industry as a manager, lifeguard, coach and swimming teacher.
He
first worked in schools as a Learning Support Assistant, with a brief
time at Croscombe Primary followed by two years at St. Aldhelm's.
James had to leave Doulting in order to undertake teacher training
at the University of the West of England. However, on completing his
training James applied for the teaching post at St. Aldhelm's created
by Kevin Knowles's retirement. As one of Kevin's previous pupils James
is honoured to continue in his place.
James
still enjoys sports when he can find the time, and likes a wide range
of music. He is learning to play the guitar however self-tuition can
be a slow process. James has also taken up the trombone, and is currently
aiming to catch up with the two years experience his class have gained,
so that he can join the year 5 band.
James
hopes his future in the school will involve increasing responsibilities.
Using his background in sports, science and ICT, he aims to organise
and run clubs that will enrich school life.
