Introduced
by Mrs Kaunhoven in 2005 the Passport Project involves all pupils
and as many parents as possible. We invite contributions from home
and receive books, pictures and artefacts as well as pieces of work
completed especially for the display which we put up in the central
corridor.
The
country focus changes each term. Sometimes we emphasise key events
or festivals in the calendar, e.g. we studied China in February to
capitalise on Chinese New Year.
Each child has a 'passport', a folder in which they keep their work
based on each month's country. As a minimum teachers set one research
homework a term using the country as a starting point and throughout
the month every pupil visits the display and writes, draws or collects
an entry for their passport.
In
assembly we play music from our focus country and at lunchtimes once
a week photographs of the country are projected onto a screen while
children eat.
