Dear Parents

Reception Class – Wet Mornings

As we head into Autumn and Spring the number of occasions when the children have to arrive in the rain is likely to increase.  Hopefully there will not be too many days when children cannot get outside to work and play.

Should it be raining before school begins children gather in the hall.  Here pupils of all ages wait until the duty teacher tells them to go to class to start the day.  The duty teacher will be in the hall from 8.50 onwards.

It is not possible for us to accommodate parents at this time for the reasons given below.  Therefore, please leave your child at the hall doors.  In this way we can keep all our children safe.

It is not possible for parents to stay because there is insufficient space, because parents often gather near the door making entrances and exits of other children difficult, and because the duty teacher needs to have a clear eyeline and keep watch on all the pupils.  This is more difficult with parents in the hall.  In addition, there are security reasons why having many parents in school is problematic.

Should you not be happy to leave your child with us in the hall at 8.50, the alternative is to remain with him/her in your car or time your arrival for the 8.57 start.

In this way we shall be able to keep all children safe.

Yours sincerely
