18th January 2007

Dear Parents,

I have the pleasure of informing you that I have arranged to take Year 5 children to the Kilve Court Residential Centre at Bridgwater.   This residential trip will take place from Wednesday 16th until Friday 18th May (2night/3day stay).

We will be staying in the Outdoor Centre which is situated in the grounds of Kilve Court and will provide activities such as: on site mountain biking, low/high ropes course, team building games, grass sledging, field study topics and evening events, for example, night walks and camp fire.

The voluntary cost of this residential trip will be £90 which includes the cost of the stay, activities, food, transport and County Insurance plus sundries such as sun cream, first aid kits etc.

The school has taken children on many residential trips over the years which have been both regarding and enjoyable for children and staff.   I would therefore like all children in Year 5 to take part in this experience.   If you have any concerns about this please speak to myself or Mr. Whitewick.   I would also like to inform you that the school reserves the right to refuse a place to any child whose behaviour at school, it feels, could put at risk the enjoyment or safety of other party members.

I have arranged for a member of staff from Kilve Court to hold a meeting and power point presentation with parents and children.   This meeting will give you and your child an insight into what they will be doing on this trip and it will give you the opportunity to discuss any concerns that you may have.   This meeting will take place on Thursday 15th March at 3.45pm in the hall.

At this meeting I will also be handing out Medical forms for you to fill in and return to school.   If you would rather discuss any medical matter privately please make an appointment to see me when you return the form.

Please fill in the reply slip below and bring back to school by Friday 26th February, together with a deposit of £20 (Cheques made payable to Somerset County Council), so that your child can have the opportunity to take part in our trip.   It will be possible to pay voluntary contributions by instalments, but we need to have the total amount paid by Friday 13th April 2007.

Yours sincerely,

Kara Matthews.

As parent/guardian of ________________________________I have read, fully understood and am satisfied with the details supplied above concerning my son/daughter taking part in the residential visit to Kilve Court in May 2007 and enclose cash/cheque for £20 made payable to Somerset County Council.

I am aware that:

(a)       Except for visits abroad, insurance arrangements are that the Authority only provides cover against proven negligence by the Authority and its employees.

(b)      I should consider making my own insurance arrangements for personal accident cover for my son/daughter.
