4th May 2007
Dear Parents,
Your child has been learning a brass instrument for 2 years and will come to the end of the project in July. We were able to extend the project for our current Year 5 pupils this year by offering lessons before school. The purpose of this letter is to gauge interest for a brass project continuing next year.
I have attached/included a reply slip below for you to indicate your preference for next year. Please note that this is not a commitment on your part at this stage. Neither is it an indication that we will be able to offer lessons. Governors will, though, be able to make a decision based on the feedback we receive.
The first option is that we offer brass lessons to all members of the class who are interested. Parents will be charged at £1.50 a week for a lesson of an hour which will start before the school day officially starts at 8.30am. The school will fund the hire of instruments (currently £52.00 per child) using this option.
The second option is that we offer large group tuition. 15 children are needed to make this viable. 30 minute lessons will be taught during the school day and parents will be charged £1.50 plus the cost of instrument hire. (currently £52.00 per year). Under this option the cost would increase to other pupils if anyone drops out.
You may decide that you no longer wish your child to receive lessons. You may wish your child to have individual lessons with Somerset Music (current cost = £18.90 for a 30 minute lesson). There are spaces on the form for you to indicate your choice.
The governors will consider the best way to proceed and I shall write to you again after half term. To help us make a decision please return the form by Friday 18th May.
Yours sincerely,
Roger Whitewick.
