Curriculum

Our Curriculum Map

The teaching staff at St. Aldhelm's work hard to make sure that the children in our school are engaged, stimulated and challenged by their learning. We have created a two year cycle to our curriculum, with key skills, knowledge and understanding built into cross-curricular themes. Each term has a whole school 'umbrella' theme, which is usually weighted towards one or two areas of the curriculum. From this, teachers use the Creative Learning Journey (CLJ) planning wheels and skills ladders to plan natural links between other areas of the curriculum and the central theme. This planning is informed by the programmes of study contained within the EYFS and National Curriculum, as well as being guided by children's existing knowledge and areas of interest, identified using TASC, in order to maximise the range of learning opportunities in which children can engage.

Please see the CLASSES section for detailed information about how you can support your child with their homework and their learning in school.
