Congratulations to all the Star Workers of this year!
Thank you to all who attended the concert yesterday which I enjoyed tremendously. I thought the children sang so well, as they usually do. The mix of sun and cloud was just right and we got in before the rain, just. I have been overwhelmed by the kind wishes from all parts of the school community… but more about this on Monday.
Report Forms: We have received many reply slips from parents and children with comments about the report. Please return this on Monday if you have not already done so. We keep all comments on file with the school copy of the report.
Mrs Ford and Mrs Anderton have worked hard on our Friday book club throughout the year and have done a wonderful job of encouraging reading in our school. Indeed Mrs Ford has worked hard on our behalf for many years. We have decided not to continue the club next year but books and money have been distributed throughout the school so that children can continue to benefit. My thanks to both for their time and effort this year.
Children’s Parliament:
I forgot to report on last week’s newsletter that our four Children’s
Parliament winners were invited to lunch with David Heath MP at the Houses of
Parliament. Chlòe Mott, Rebecca Carver,
Alice Webb and Hayley Carver spent a day in
Final Assembly: We shall be saying goodbye to our Year Six leavers at a final assembly to be held on Monday at 2.30pm.
Roger Whitewick
Inset Day: The new school year will begin for pupils on Tuesday 4th September at 8.57am. Monday 3rd September will be an INSET day for teachers.
Jan Stallard
Lunchtime Supervisor: We are looking to recruit a new lunchtime supervisor, to start as soon as possible in the Autumn term, to cover Monday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes. Please see Mrs Kaunhoven for further details if you are interested.
Brass Instruments: Any children not continuing with brass in September need to bring their instruments to school on Monday for collection by the music service.
Information for anybody who ordered Sherpa reflective jackets. Due to postal strikes there has been a delay in dispatching your items, however all jackets will now be sent to your home addresses within the next few days.
FROM THE FRIENDS OF ST
ALDHELM’S (PTA)
Our recent events have made a lot of money for the school. The disco last Friday made £275.70p and it was enjoyed by all. The Fete followed on the Sunday and made a total of £1,185.00 which will be split three ways for the school, village and the church. This was an excellent amount raised considering the weather and we hope everyone enjoyed it. Than you to everyone who helped set up, helped on the stalls and those of you who helped clear away. On the 6th of July it was Bag2School and the money raised here was £152.00. Thank you very much for clearing out your unwanted clothing etc. Therefore in such a short space of time we have made a grand total of £822.70. which is absolutely fantastic! Have a great summer holiday and we look forward to raising more money in September!
