From the Headteacher:

Star Work:  Our Star Work board looks good this week with the work of: Joshua Wilson, Amy Edwards, Jack Baker, Tommy Mechen, Harry Warwick, Ashleigh Billing, Georgina Biggs, Owain Porter, Matthew Walters, Ollie Birt, Alice Webb, Robert Edwards, and Peter Rolfe.   Congratulations to all Star Workers.

Music 1:   Congratulations to all piano and guitar players who performed so well yesterday at our concert.   It was wonderful to see how the children had progressed across the year.

Music 2:   My apologies to parents who were expecting a Brass and Music Tech concert this morning.   We were unable to arrange this due to the unavailability of Mr. Thomas and I forgot that I had posted the date in the diary section of the website.

Music 3:   We have managed to secure Brass lessons for children in next year’s Y4, Y5 and Y6 who wish to continue.   You should have received a letter about this if your child is interested.   Please ask at the office if you think you have missed out.

Music 4:   Many of our brass players will be performing at the Fête on Sunday!

Mini Olympics:   Congratulations to our athletes who participated in the mini-olympics on Wednesday afternoon.   Details of our team’s performance can be found below.

Individual first places achieved by Kira Vincent Y4,

Charlotte Burr and Rebecca Carver Y6.

St. Aldhelm’s achieved first place out of the small schools and second place overall.   Everyone enjoyed the event and thank you to all parents and John Young who helped make this such a successful event.

Annual Reports:   Your child’s report should be with you on Monday.   Teachers have been working hard writing documents which give you a full picture of your child’s progress this year.

Bad Hair Day:   Next Friday is ‘Bad Hair Day’: an opportunity for children to come with hair in any style they choose.   School uniform should be worn.   This event is just for fun.   We shall not be collecting any money.

Leaver’s Service:   We shall be saying ‘goodbye’ to our Year Six pupils in church next Thursday.  Due to the commitments of Rev. Liz we are holding the service at 11.30am instead of 9.30 as originally advertised.   Lunch will be served back at school when the children arrive and are ready for it.

Your new Headteacher, Mrs J Mounter, will be in school next Friday afternoon and will attend assembly.

Brass:   We need as many children as possible to play Brass instruments at the fete on Sunday.   Children can collect their instruments from their classrooms at 2.45pm.

Picnic:   The concert will begin at 2.00pm on the school field.   After the concert the children will return to their classrooms.   You may then collect your child to join you on the field.   Please bring your own picnic.   The school PTA will provide squash.   If you are unable to attend please send your child with a small picnic and they will be supervised by their class teacher until 3.25pm.

Book Club:   Sadly the school book club has folded as we were unable to find anybody to take responsibility for running it.   Thank you to all the Parents and pupils who have supported it over the years.   Pupils who are paying off books as present will receive them free of further charge.   The remaining £1,000 of book club funds will go to providing dictionaries for the classrooms.

From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s (PTA)

Thank you very much for everyone’s contributions for the Year 3 Market.   You all raised an amazing £49.80 for the school, well done!   Also for all of you who sorted out your jewellery, you made a total of £56.39 for the school, thank you very much.

Just a reminder that tonight is the Beach/Hawaiian Disco at 6.00pm entrance to include an authentic ‘Hawaiian leis’.   Pocket money is required if children wish to buy drinks/snacks at the disco.   We do hope the children have a great end of year disco.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the fete this Sunday 15th July commencing at 2.30pm.   Ticket stubs should have been returned to the office no later than the 10th July,   if you still have them please bring them along with you.   Please come along for a fun afternoon, we have a bouncy castle/slide, face painting/tattoos, school brass band and many many more stalls to look around.   Donations of raffle prizes books and toys for the book/toy stall would still be gratefully appreciated.   If you have any of these items please bring them along to the school field either after 10am when setting up, or on arrival, this would be much appreciated.   Help is still required also, especially to tidy away after the fete.   If you can spare half an hour during or after to help this would be great.   Thank you very much to the few parents who have already offered to help, we look forward to seeing you all Sunday.
