Star Work:
Congratulations to our Star Workers of this week: Phoebe Cutler, Brandon Whiting,
Euan Hurley, Olly James, Sam Ford, Tom Court, Ross Emery, Charlie Fleming, Jake
Mathot-Sankey, Thomas Manship, Lottie Allen and Sam Locke. Their work
is on display in pride of place on our Star Work board.
HOW week: Several
activities have taken place across the week to encourage children to think
about how we can act to help protect the environment. At the assembly today children’s work was on
display and soon you will be able to see further examples on the website. The walk across the fields at the end of
Wednesday was good fun and, when added to the number who normally walk home
e.g. to Chelynch, the number of children walking home was 164. Pictures and other information will be
posted on the website in the HOW section. www.staldhelms.co.uk
Year Six Cycle Safety training: 23 Year Six
pupils completed the Right Track Cycle Safety course this week. In this academic year we have been able to
train 84% of our Year Six and Year Five pupils; more than ever before!
Investor in People: I am
delighted to report that at the review of our Investor in People status on
Monday we were given a clean bill of health and can retain the standard for a
further two years. We were first
awarded this quality mark in 2002 and have been through two reviews since then.
Year Three went on a trip
to Montacute House this week as part of their study of the Tudors. The reports I have received are of a very
enjoyable day. I am sure we shall see
photographs of this day on our website soon.

all orders and payments for sibling school photographs are at the school office
by midday Monday 18th June.
Failure to do so will require an additional payment and the order will
have to be sent off by yourselves.

no brass for Year Five Monday 18th June. The lost one will be Monday 25th June 2007.
Summer Fete: The summer

be warmly received. We are asking for
any of the following, can you help?
Bottles for the tombola, plants, cakes, items for the nearly new stall
and raffle prizes. If you make your own jewellery, carve wood, paint pictures
and would like an opportunity to have a stall at the fete to sell your wares,
you will be very welcome; all it will cost you is £10.00 for the table. If you can help in any way or require more
information please see either Nicky Mitchell or Rachel Manship (Y2). Thank you.

A Book Club Co-ordinator is required to run the book club which takes
place on Friday afternoons. If you and
your children are not aware of the club, it is basically a club whereby your
children can choose a book, gradually pay a sum of money per week until the
book is paid for and then bring it home to keep. A percentage of the money taken is given
back to the school for books in the classroom/library. If anyone is interested in taking on this role,
please speak to the office who will be able to provide you with further details.
The PTA work extremely hard
to help raise funds to provide equipment for indoor and outdoor
facilities. Help from parents is always
extremely limited. In order for us to
continue to raise money for our children’s school, we would welcome more help
from parents, as the present situation is looking like the PTA could
potentially no longer continue. This
would obviously be a great loss to the school, especially when you look around
and see the playground facilities, classroom surround sound system etc.
The next PTA meeting will be 29th June at 2.00pm. We hope to see more parents at the
meeting. Thank you.
