Star Work:
Congratulations to this week’s Star Workers: Josh Barton, Georgia Hill,
Kathleen Cox-Thompson, Maddy Wood, Mason Young, and Harrison Bean. Their work is on display in the
centre of the school where it can be admired by everyone who passes.
New Children: We are
delighted to welcome
Swiss students : MAYDAY,
MAYDAY!! I still need two host families for 18/19 year old female students who
will be with us from Sunday 24th June for two weeks. If you can help please let us know at the
office as soon as possible.
Year Five pupils took part in a singing festival at Wells
Cathedral yesterday afternoon. Mrs
Pearson and Mr. Anderton reported to me that our pupils did particularly well
and were good representatives of our school.
Lost Property: Our lost
property box is already full to overflowing after just one week back at
school. I can’t help but feel that the
children do not take responsibility for their own things and often take the
view that someone else, usually a parent, will do the searching for them. Our lost property box is evidence that many
children do not care about their own property.

If you have any old CD’s or
DVD’s that you no longer require, please send them in to Year 6 at the start of
next week – we need them for some sculpture work. Also, any unwanted plastic bags would be
very welcome.

From
the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s (PTA)
We mentioned in a previous
newsletter that our Sponsored Marathon raised £912.15p. Mr Harris who kindly ran the marathon in aid
of the ‘Friends of St. Aldhelm’s’ raised an additional £925!!. Our total raised is therefore £1,847.15
which we think is pretty fantastic.
Thank you.
The Market on the 18th
of May was a big success and raised a whopping £91.50 in the space of around 45
minutes! Well done to Year 2 and thank
you to those who brought in items to sell and to those who sold them. It has to be said that this has been the best
market since September and the challenge is now on for the next market to beat
it…
The disco was enjoyed by
those who braved the terrible weather.
The face painting was both entertaining and challenging (you should have
heard the requests we had!) and the sweets and hot dogs sold well – we made a
profit of £128.12. The final disco of
the year is on Friday 13th July (not an unlucky one we hope) and we
are planning to have a themed disco.
More news on this later.
