From the Headteacher

Star Work:   Congratulations to our star workers of this week: George Davis, Rebecca McCann, Taylor Llewellyn, Bradley Day and Jasper Williams.   Their work is on display in pride of place in the centre of the school.

Car Park:   Once again I have received complaints about the way parents are parking and driving in the car park.   Please remember that safety of the children is the most important concern.   Therefore all users must drive with extreme caution.   Do not allow your child to walk through the car park unaccompanied.

Swiss Students:   Three teaching students from Switzerland will be joining us for two weeks at the end of June.   We need host families.   The students are here to learn about our school system but also to improve their English (which, based on past experience, is actually very good).   There is a small payment for hosting a student.   If you are interested or can help then please let us know at the school office.

Lost Property:   As part of our encouragement of children’s independence we prefer it if pupils rather than parents searched lost property.   In a previous newsletter I suggested that children only searched from Monday to Thursday and parents on Friday.   Obviously, we aim to reduce the amount of property lost by making sure pupils themselves are responsible for their own things.

Monday is Bank Holiday so school is closed!   I hope you have a good day.

I am out of school next week attending a conference.   Mrs Kaunhoven and Mrs Stallard will be available in my absence.

International Tuck is on Wednesday 23rd May.  Mrs Rowsell will be serving Loukoumades (Greek Honey Doughnuts) the cost of these will be 25p, with 5p of this going to charity.

Year 3 are collecting coloured carrier bags and bubblewrap to make a large piece of art and we need loads!   If you have a surplus of coloured plastic bags (not tescos), please bring them to the Year 3 classroom where we will hopefully transform them into something wonderful!

Jewellery Recycling Week Yes! We have come up with another painless way for you to help fund those important extra items for our children’s school.   We are running a collection and sale of jewellery to help the school acquire more items that cannot be bought from the school’s budget.   Would you please have a sort out of your jewellery box and donate the unwanted items towards this appeal.   Please put all items in the envelope provided.  (Your eldest child should have brought home this envelope today).

Glastonbury Festival: Many thanks to those of you who volunteered to be stewards at this year’s festival to raise money for school funds.   We now have the two teams required.   There will be a meeting in the school hall on Tuesday at 8.30pm for all the stewards.

Forthcoming events:   We have booked another two discos for the children, namely Friday May 11th and Friday July 13th.   If your children have not come along before please do as it is a great way for the children to meet new friends and to have lots of fun.   Entrance costs £2.00 and all children under 5 need to be accompanied by an adult.   The disco commences at 6.00pm until 7.30pm.   For sale on the night will be chocolate, sweets, hotdogs and drinks.   Please ensure your children have a purse or wallet to keep their change safe if you are not staying during the disco.   If you can also help on the night this would be appreciated.

We also have another market on May 11th, the class responsible is Year 2.   Any donations of cakes/biscuits to be left at the Office on the Friday morning, thank you very much for your contributions.   The markets are very successful and help towards raising money for the school.
