From
the Headteacher
Star Work: Congratulations to the
children who have work on display on our Star Work board this week. Work that appears on this special display is
of a high quality in terms of its content and/or presentation or is work that
demonstrates a huge step forward for a particular child. Our Star Workers of this week are Emily
Burridge, Felicity Day, Sam Locke, Ashleigh Billing, Bethany Lovell, Freya
Thorner, Emily Lucksted, Simone Young, Giles Wood and Freddie Anderton.
Coats: It is very important that the
children can get outside to play during the school day so coats are
essential. We have some pupils who come
to school (probably in a warm car) without a coat to wear at playtime.
Illness has struck this week with many children and some teachers
affected. In one Year Group on Thursday
only half the class were present!
www.staldhelms.co.uk has copies of this
and other newsletters for you to view online.
There are also updates to the Reception class and Year Two pages in the
‘Classes’ section as well as a new book project by Year Six in the projects
section.
Our
International theme for this term is
served
with rice and sweetcorn.
****
Tropical Fruit Salad.
Details
of the Jamaican tuck shop (which will serve Jamaican Rock buns!) will follow in
a later newsletter.
Mrs Matthews: I am sure
many of you will have noticed that Mrs. Matthews is expecting a new addition to
her family. This is wonderful news and
I am sure parents will add their good wishes to those she has already
received. I have secured the services
of a teacher to cover Mrs. Matthews’s maternity leave which is due to start at
the end of February. Once all
contractual details have been finalised I shall reveal the name of the teacher
to Year Two parents by letter and then to all parents through the newsletter.

From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s(PTA): Happy New Year to everyone from all of the
PTA, hope you all had a great Christmas.
Next week on Friday 19th January after assembly, we are
holding another market where you can purchase cakes, biscuits, eggs and plants,
hopefully raising as much as £50.00 for the school. The class responsible for providing goods
for the stall are Reception and Year 6.
We really appreciate your contributions for these markets and would
welcome your donation at the office on the Friday morning or after school. On Thursday 25th January from
9.00am Bag2School will be here again to collect any unwanted clothes, shoes,
etc. so start clearing our your cupboards!
A blue bag is being sent home with your child today, but if you think
you will be able to fill more than one bag you are welcome to fill more bin
liners! The van will be parked as
before adjacent to the annexe.
We have also set a date for a PTA social on Friday 26th January at the Poachers Pocket. If you would like to come along just let us know, we hope to have a great evening. The next PTA meeting will be next Friday the 19th January from 2.00pm in the school.
