From
the Headteacher:
‘A Present for the Baby’ and ‘Peace Child’ My congratulations
to all children who participated in the school Christmas productions. A lot of hard work went into making each
performance memorable. My thanks to
everyone who put in time and effort to learn lines and songs and provide
costumes and props.
£484.35 was collected for our charity for this year.
Church Service: I completely misled you last
week in the newsletter by saying the service will be on Monday morning. It is in fact on TUESDAY
morning at 9.30. Parents are welcome to
join us at a service which will be led by the children of Year Five and
Reception class. Rev. Martin will
address the pupils during this service.
Christmas Parties will also be held on Tuesday in the afternoon. Children should attend school in uniform but
might like to bring a change of clothes for the afternoon. Drinks will be provided.
Christmas Lunch will be served on Tuesday by a special team of
waiters and waitresses.
Coats: Please make sure your child
has a coat to wear at playtimes and lunchtimes. All children play outside at some point
during the day and a coat is needed.
Term
ends for our pupils on Wednesday at the close of school.
International Theme: Next term to tie in with our Jamaican
Storyteller we are having
Tess Kaunhoven
Christmas Magazine: Do you like Puzzles, Dot to dot, Jokes,
Poems? Then now is the time to get your purse out because the School Council
have made a Christmas magazine. This
will be on sale everyday next week for an astonishingly low price of £1.50. All profits to go to our charity for this
year CLIC.
From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s: We have had a really good December for
fundraising which is especially good as we know that the cash gets a little
thin around this time of year! Our
Christmas disco made a wonderful £228.20 profit. We think everyone had a superb time and the
glow bracelets went down a treat as usual.
The same can’t be said for Mr Whitewick’s dancing…”don’t give up your
day job sir!”
The Christmas Fayre was a huge success and we hope
you all enjoyed it. We managed to raise
£806.73 at the Fayre and the raffle raised a whopping £310.00 making a
total of £1,116.73. There are a few
deductions to be made, but overall this is a bumper Christmas. A big, big thank you to everyone who donated
something and a special thank you to those of you who helped set up, helped on
the stalls and cleared up afterwards.
Thank you also to the whole of Year 6 who proved themselves
to be a very mature and helpful bunch.
Finally, we would like to thank Mr Graham who cut out the snowman shapes
for the grotto – we think you’ll agree that they looked fantastic and the
grotto was very well received by the children.
Look out for the picture in the Journal! We do have a slight problem with storage of
the snowmen as they cannot be kept in the school and if anyone is willing to
give them a home for 12 months, we would very much appreciate it if you could
let the school office know.
A total of 271 sweetie jars were collected for the
fayre a fantastic amount; the winning class was Year 2 with a total of 90
collected.
