From the Senior Teachers:

Mr Whitewick made it to the European Conference in Maastricht, which has given the two senior teachers a chance to enjoy a brief spell at the helm!

Star Work:   Congratulations to Jake Mathot-Sankey in Year Three and Bethany Lovell in Year Two who have had their work on display on the Star Work board this week.

Please note that there is no assembly next Friday (17th November) as the hall is being used by Action Track for a community composition project, involving our Year Six pupils and pupils from other schools.

It was great to see so many children in Carnival costumes for the Mufti day on Tuesday.   The children raised a smile as well £181 towards the Christmas Fayre, and their costumes added an extra dimension to the KS2 singing for the Senior Citizen community lunch.

Message from your School Councillors:    School councillors have chosen CLIC as the charity to support this year.   The first fundraising idea we have had is to create a Christmas magazine to sell.   We are running a ‘front cover’ competition.   Would you like your design to be chosen for the front cover?   If so, this is what you need to do:

  • Christmassy design
  • Christmassy colours
  • Pens or crayons
  • Strong bold lines
  • No glitter pens or glitter
  • A5 paper
  • Name and year group on the back

Designs need to be handed in to your school councillors on the 17th of November together with 20pence for your design entry fee.

Look on next week’s newsletter for more information on the magazine.

From the Friend’s of St Aldhelm’s(PTA)

Christmas is fast approaching and we are in full swing arranging the Christmas Fayre, which will be held on Friday 8th December in the school hall.

Your eldest child should have brought home with this newsletter 3 books of raffle tickets.  If you were here last year then I am sure that you can remember the fantastic Christmas Hampers which were given as prizes.  This year we intend to do the same thing so please could you help us raise money by selling the raffle tickets to friends and family.  PLEASE CAN ALL TICKETS (SOLD OR UNSOLD) BE RETURNED WITH ANY MONEY TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE, NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 1ST DECEMBER.

Thank you to all the parents and children who have already donated items for these hampers but just in case you need a reminder,  Reception, Year 1 and 2 are bringing in food items and Years 3,4,5 and 6 are bringing in smellies (his or hers).

Children will as usual be asked to bring in jars of sweets for the sweetie tombola but a notice will be sent out probably next week.

There was a small error on the last newsletter which asked for any MDF or chipboard at least 1cm in size, as you have probably guessed that should have said 1m in size!!

Next Friday we are holding another market.   The class responsible for the market on the 17th November after school is Year 5.   We would welcome any cakes, biscuits, plants, etc.   Please leave any of these items at the office on Friday morning.   Thank you for your contributions, all to raise money for the school.   Depending on the weather, the market will either be held on the playground or in the annexe.

Also on sale at the market will be the opportunity for you to purchase any second hand school uniform.   All items are in good condition, so it will be worth a look.  Thank you for your continued support during this extremely busy time. If you need any further information on any of the Friend’s events or could spare a small amount of time helping at the Christmas Fayre please see your class representatives.

Cranmore and Doulting Pre-School are holding their annual Christmas Bingo on Friday 24th November at Cranmore Village Hall.   Doors open at 6.45pm. Eyes down at 7.30pm.   Lots of prizes to be won.
