Star Work: Congratulations to James
Mechen whose work is in pride of place on our Star Work board.
Cycle Safety Training: Our second group of Year
Five pupils complete their course of cycle training next week. Running the course has been interesting not
only because I get to work with Year Five but also because I get to see how
many of the cars approach the school.
Traffic: Please drive with caution on
our school site (including the school drive way). We have received reports of near misses because drivers are going
very fast down the drive. Take
particular care when entering the site and cutting across Chelynch Park.
Newletters: The newsletter section of our
website is now up to date and should be updated each week so that you are never
without access to a copy. Also
appearing is a section called ‘Letters to Parents’ where you can get copies of
letters sent out to parents of specific year groups. If you are concerned that you have missed out on something or if
your child forgets an important letter about a trip you can check by visiting www.staldhelms.co.uk

International News: Mrs
Rowsell is making Burros (mini chocolate doughnuts) for our Spanish tuck

If your child would like to purchase tuck, please ensure they bring
25 pence into school on Wednesday. For
every purchase made, 5 pence will go to our chosen school charity. Advance notice: Term 2’s country theme is MEXICO.

Harvest Festival: Next
Tuesday 17th October 9.30am in church. We are collecting food for the homeless people’s café run by
Crisis Centre Ministries in Bristol. A
list of useful items is attached to this newsletter.
Message from the Kitchen: A
reminder that it is Week 1 for the menu after half-term.
From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s (PTA): As at previous Christmas Fayre’s we have raffled some fantastic
hampers. We have decided to do the
same this year but felt it easier if each class fills a hamper. We have therefore decided on Years 3,4,5
and 6 (Juniors) to make up His and Hers bathroom hampers and Reception, Year l
and 2 providing goodies for food hampers.
If you would like to contribute please could you leave your contribution
at the school office, explaining which class it is for or alternatively leave
with your class representative. The
class representatives are as follows:-
Reception Lucy Wilson
Year 1 Vicky
Herring/Sarah Hearne
Year 2 Michelle
Dix/Heidi Doughty
Year 3 Dawn
Meen/Wendy Sellar
Year 4 Rosie
Holmes/Liz Barton
Year 5 Sarah
Savery/Maria Pitman
Year 6 Karen
Wigzel/Helen Legg
We
are currently in the process of printing the raffle tickets and these will be
available shortly for you to buy and have the chance of winning on of the
fantastic hampers. Thank you for your
contributions.
Glastonbury Festival: Volunteers are needed to take part as stewards at the 2007 festival. This is an excellent way to raise money for our school. In 2005 we provided a team of 20 stewards and earnt over £2000 for school funds whilst having a lot of fun at the same time!! You will be required to give up 18 hours to provide stewarding services (3 shifts of 6 hours) full training provided. You will get a free ticket to the festival that gives you full access when you are not on duty. If you are interested could you please complete the form at the bottom of the newsletter and return to the school office. Any queries please speak to Dawn Meen (01749) 345600.
