From the Headteacher:
Star Work: Congratulations to Lewis Henderson, Amy Edwards, Jack Robson, Jordan Vaughan and George Lintern who have work on display in pride of place.
Parent – Governor Election: You should have received a letter this week terminating the election due to inaccurate information on the county council database. A rescheduled election, should one be needed, will be held in September but only after the terms of office of all current parent governors have been clarified.
Piano and Guitar lessons: If your child currently has lessons with Mr Sweet or Mrs Clarke and you wish him/her to continue, please send back the new agreement form before the end of term.
Rhema theatre visited school yesterday and performed for the children.
Concert: Thank you to all the children who performed at our summer celebration of singing. It was good to see so many parents present even though the heat sent us all under the trees for shade. Thank you to Mrs Pearson for organising this event for us.
Monday: We shall be taking children to the church on Monday morning for a church service during which we shall be saying goodbye to our leavers. Rev. Martin Wood will address the children. Parents are welcome to join us at this service which starts at 9.30am.
On Monday afternoon we shall be saying goodbye to Mr Knowles and Mrs Brown with tea and cake in the hall starting at 3.00pm. I hope you will join us for this. If you would like your child to join you in the hall please collect him/her from the classroom first. I’m sure they will be grateful! Alternatively collect your children as normal at the end of the school day.
Tuesday: We shall finish the year with an assembly for our Y6 leavers, starting at 2.30pm.
Advance warning: SPAIN is the international theme for Autum Term 1

From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s (PTA):
Since
September 2005, our fundraising events have raised just over £6,300 which we
think is pretty fantastic so a big THANK YOU to all of you who kindly supported
our events, be it through a financial contribution or through manpower (or
both!).
Our
expenditure has been just over £3,600.
£1,470 of this was for The Arts, £800 was for the school piano and the
remainder was for stock, prizes, games, gifts, insurance, equipment etc etc.
Overall
though, I think you'll agree we have done well and have money in the bank. Well ... not quite ....
You may remember
a few weeks ago you received a leaflet telling you about our plans for the all
weather surfacing around the clatter bridge.
We are absolutely delighted to tell you that during the summer holidays,
this area and the area in front of what will be Year 3 classroom, will be
covered in a synthetic carpet like the pencil area. It will be various colours and shapes AND we will also have some
new 'pencils' to border the area AND we are also getting a new picnic table
with games on it. The cost of this work
amounts to approximately £9,700, of which the Friends of St Aldhelm's are
contributing £4,000. The remainder is
coming out of the school budget.
All our
children will benefit from having an 'extra' play area during the Winter months
and we are very much looking forward to seeing it in September.
Thank you
once again and we look forward to having your continued support throughout the
next academic year (as we now have a very empty bank account!)
The
Bag2school raised £170 thank you to everyone who brought in clothes etc…We are
hoping to do two more Bag2school events next year. (January and July).
We would like to thank Steve Goodland who won the balloon race (£50) – as he has very kindly donated £25 to the PTA and £25 to Childline. THANK YOU.
Football: Last Saturday the school entered a team in Evercreech 7 a side Football Tournament.
The team comprised of children from years 3, 4, 5 and 6, did exceptionally well to reach the final where they lost on penalties to Evercreech United.
Congratulations to Josh Barton, Robert Holmes, Tom Court,
Jack Savery, Ollie Birt, Will Carey, Andrew Minchin and the captain Kieran
Young.
Please can all remaining kits be returned to school before the end of term.
