From
the Headteacher:
Year Six Cycle Safety Training: 16 of our Year Six pupils completed the first eight hours of a
ten hour course of cycle safety training this week led by Mr. Hamilton and Mrs
Kaunhoven. We hope all will ‘pass’ at
the final session next week.
School Profile: It is the
responsibility of the governors to publish a profile on a government website
and our first version is now online.
Although we have nearly reached the end of the 2005-2006 school year the
profile on the website is about the 2004-2005 school year! The next profile (which WILL be about this
school year) will be available in the first term of next year. www.parentscentre.gov.uk will
provide you with the link to the relevant information.
Annual Reports: The annual
reports were sent home on Tuesday. The
accompanying letter invited pupils and parents to comment and send the reply
slip back to school. If you have not
already done so, please take the time to fill this in and return it. Should you wish to make an appointment to
talk to your child’s teacher about the contents of the report there was a space
on the form to indicate this.
Mr. Knowles and Mrs. Brown: We
are saying ‘goodbye’ to Mr Knowles and Mrs Brown at the end of this term and we
want to make sure that everybody gets an opportunity to express their thanks at
one or more events before the term finally ends. We are therefore holding a tea and cake session on Monday 24th
July in the hall. All parents and
friends of the school are invited along with our pupils, of course. We shall start our ‘tea’ at 3.00pm and
parents are welcome to collect children from classrooms and take them to the
hall.
Rhema Theatre will be visiting school next Thursday as an end of
term treat. This event will be free to
children.
Thank
you to
everyone who participated in the village fête last weekend. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and it
was good to see so many people there.

Message from the Kitchen: All
children should have brought home a new Autumn Term menu. The new cost for lunches from September
will be £1.70 due to higher food costs as all our meat and most of our
vegetables are local and fresh.
Due
to the leavers picnic on Monday 24th of July there will be no hot
dinners, picnic option only.
From the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s (PTA):
Summer
Fête – (organised by the village, church and school). We were lucky with the weather and it stayed dry Sunday
afternoon. The school brass band was
great and the dancers performed Barnum brilliantly. The event raised £1,500 which will be split between the
school, village and church.
A BIG
thank you to everyone who helped. A
special thank you to Jeff Body who opened the fête and also donated one of his
infamous ‘lambs’. The lamb was won by
Mrs Joan Hill.
Date
for your diary for next term, Quiz Night Friday 22nd September in
school hall. Doors will be open from
7.00pm, quiz to start at 8.00pm prompt.
£10 entry per team (teams of 4) The first prize will be £50.
There
will be a bar open for those in need of refreshments!!
