NEWSLETTER 29       05/06    05.05.06

From the Headteacher:

Star Work:   Congratulations to Cameron Allen, Ryan Billing, Hannah Dix, Charlotte Fillis, Joseph Fone, Freya Thorner, Kieran Wiltshire and Fraser Young who have work on display on our Star Work board.

Year Six SATs begin next week across England (except in private schools!) and our pupils will be involved.   I wish them well, and know that, whatever the results, as long as they have done their best they will have done all that can be expected of them.

Year Five pupils head off to Kilve Court for a residential trip next week for what I hope will be a fun and worthwhile experience.

International meals:   You might like to know that at the last governors’ meeting a decision was taken to support the international meals with a grant from government so that the higher cost of the ingredients could be met while still offering the school meal at the normal price.   In the future it is possible that an international meal will be offered at a reduced cost to encourage more children to try something different.

International News:   Mrs Rowsell is cooking a Zambian menu on Wednesday 17th May.

Main Meal:   Nshima and Ifisashi.   This is the staple food of cornmeal ‘porridge’ with a vegetable and chicken stew (cabbage, tomatoes, onion, chicken.)   As cornmeal is an acquired taste, mashed potato will also be served.

Dessert: Banana and orange slices.

Please place your orders by Monday 8th May.

International tuck will be on Wednesday 24th May (this is also our school ‘World Cup Tournament Day’ – more news to follow on this!)   As this is vegetarian week, our tuck will be an exotic fruit medley cup.   Cost 25p, with 5p going to charity.
